SEPTEMBER 1995 NEWSLETTER
Below you can find the newsletter for September! The monthly newsletter will provide a preview of the weather and events for the following month; the results of the most recent event; and also tie up any remaining loose ends from the preceding month.

If you have any questions about the newsletter's contents, please direct them here.
News and Developments
Weather
With the onset of October, Ashbrook is well and truly in the grip of autumn. Daytime temperatures range from 40 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 5-15 degrees Celsius), with evening temperature regularly dipping below freezing. Gentle rain showers can be expected intermittently throughout the month, but there's no sign of snow just yet.

The full moon is October 8th, and the new moon is October 24th.

Inkveil
In the 'Community Alerts' section of Inkveil is a brief entry about last month's disappearances and strange incidents in the forest.

"... but when asked to comment on the events, a spokesman for the Ashbrook's Sheriff's Office responded with a pamphlet about hiking safety and what to do when lost in a forest. Attached was a note that read: 'As reports of disappearances have ceased, there is no reason to believe that these 'cases' are anything but the end result of the hikers' poor woodsmanship.'

No further comment has been issued."

Strange Tides
Late at night on the 30th, Vanya J. Tides starts her monthly unauthorized broadcast on a low AM frequency. As usual her show covers a wide variety of topics, but there's one section in particular that may catch everyone's attention:

"... Have you ever heard about the phenomenon of missing time? You glance at your watch one moment and note the time. Five minutes pass and you check again - but your watch tells you that hours have passed, not minutes. It's the sort of thing that can happen for no reason at all, of course, a simple glitch in human psychology.

But what about when it happens to multiple people in the same period of time? What if someone only ever experiences it in a particular location? Can you really believe that's just a coincidence? Just something that happened for no reason? The people that experience it blame everything from aliens to radio waves to hypnosis - or their own minds, if the prospect of believing makes them uneasy.

I can't tell you the actual source, dear listeners, but I can tell you this: you should be careful out there."

True to Vanya's word, throughout October assorted residents of Ashbrook will complain about bouts of missing time. They will cite losing anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, often at night and always when they're alone. Even stranger, Visitors will not experience any time loss this month.
OOC Notes
Event Results
In the Strange Trails prompt for the September event, characters were given the option of assisting either Sebastian or Sam. The results have been tallied, and the character that received the most help is Sam! The Visitors really came together to help her out, and the fruits of their labor have paid off. Near the end of September, Sam will contact the people that helped her out (and anyone that approached her afterwards expressing interest in her project) and show them two photographs.

The first photograph shows a single, extremely bright light shining through the trees. Sam will explain that not only is the light too bright to be a flashlight, this trail camera is also facing north-east—away from the town or any roads.

The second photograph is a little blurry, but clearly shows a man in dark clothing facing away from the camera. That might not be too odd, except that the close cut of the clothing makes it look like he's wearing some sort of suit. Hardly ideal for hiking in the woods, right?

Sam has no explanation for either image, but she's clearly unsettled by what the cameras have captured. So unsettled, in fact, that she says she'd rather not bother with the cameras anymore. Instead, she'll give anyone interested in her project a map of the trail camera locations and permission to access them whenever they want.

OOCly, this means that players have unlocked a new investigation resource! Any player that submits an investigation request relating to the forest may now use the trail cameras, which may net their characters some photographic evidence of their investigation subject. This change will be reflected on the investigations page.

Reminder: Investigations
Investigations are open! If you'd like your character to dig a little deeper into the setting or have a more personalized encounter with an NPC, now's the time to put in your request. Investigations are processed every month on the 10th, so act soon if you don't want to miss out!

Reminder: Invitations
Our next app round is starting soon! If you've got a friend you'd like to invite to join us, don't forget to direct them to the invitations page! Invitations are required to apply to Ashbrook. They're always open and don't expire, but failing to submit one before before submitting an app could hold up the application process.
